It would be really neat

To go to the grocery store.

A. I can't believe that I would fine that remotely interesting.
B. I used to go just about every day...and I dreaded it.

But now it seems so faaarrrrr. The grocery store is about 2 blocks from our house. But baby Sha can't go. Well he could, but I can't figure out the logistics of the trip. The physiotherapist recommends that Sha not be in slings or carriers until he is 3 months old corrected. He isn't allowed to be in his carseat unless for travel. And I know due to RSV season ('tis the season to be infectious...fal-la-la-la)he really shouldn't be around other people. With the oxygen tank, it makes the ordeal of going out a little difficult, because carrying an oxygen tank, baby and a pie seems like an impending disaster. And the weather terrible, so we can't walk up. So...I'm not really sure how to do it. The only thing I can figure, is to take his stroller and drag it behind me pushing a grocery cart. It seems very cumbersome. I could go by myself, or ask someone to come with me, but that isn't really what I want. I would love for Sha and I to go out, in public, alone!! But not yet. This too shall pass.

Just not really what I had envisioned for my maternity leave. Thought we would be going to baby groups and taking a couple swimming classes at the Y. I think we need to make a discharge pamphlet from the NICU with activities for shutin mothers. You could reorganize your medicine cabinet (done), get hooked on soap operas (done), and blog (check).

I got a call about reformatting a document this week. I just about did a cartwheel (if I could still cartwheel) across the floor.

Having a preterm baby is really all about waiting. We have done a lot of waiting.

Pa is at work. Darn work, always interfering with my social activities. Another day, another US magazine. He's so smart. Buying my love with magazines. It works, I tell ya.

Ma has become a princess. Calling Auntie at work to ask her to bring home necessities or calling Pa to pick up a few things. But I MISS shopping. Any kind of shopping. Even grocery shopping. The princess and the pea, we are.

This has been the year of the "I can hardly wait". I can hardly wait for him to be born, I can hardly wait for his first bath, I can hardly wait for him to come home and I can hardly wait until we can get out and do some normal things together.

At least he is a great sleeper. Midnight to eight last night. My prince. A man after my own heart.

Hard to feel inspired...

When you sit around like a mushroom. Humphf. I believe if I was in a race with a Turtle, the Turtle would win. There just not a lot to do. Besides the fact that I am used to being busy. Crazy busy in fact. Dum, de, dum. Excitment for this week...go to hospital and have an RT visit. Bonding. Bond, bond, bond. Day 5 of Pa returning to work and I'm already a little stir crazy. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday night to Windsor!! And staying over night. I can hardly wait.

Sha's girlfriend, baby Awww...did visit us this week. That was really nice. It is amazing how you can sit around and chat about your baby for hours on end. Baby Awww checked out baby Sha. Baby Sha slept. Played hard to get.

Baby Awww.
It is easy to see why Sha is in love. She was a leopard and he was a lion. This has to be a sign!

The RT just left and brought Sha some new tanks and did his saturation monitoring. Sha is such a good boy and is consistantly sleeping through the night!

Want to work in the NICU?

Have a little fun today!

Go to www.addictinggames.com
click on Carrie the Caregiver (I kid you not) on the right side of the screen about half way down.
Play the NICU!!!

Tee hee. This is going to be my night's work.

ADDICTIVE!

Ma has a migraine

Feeling a little under the weather...think it started last night. Taking an advil and going for a nap. Sha is sleeping peacefully...what a little sweetheart. Back to regular posting tomorrow!

Follow-up Appointment

Auntie here...filling in for Ma tonight, so bear with me. The little Turkey went to the DFC for another follow-up appointment today. They looked him over, weighed him, tested his oxygen requirements and chatted with Ma about his progress at home.

Physically, little Sha seems to be doing well. He still has immature head movements, but they have improved since his last visit and the exercises that Pa does with him really seem to be helping.

Ma and Pa have successfully switched the little one to "on demand" feeding, which means that they feed him when he is hungry and don't wake him up if he is sleeping. This, thankfully, means that Sha is pretty much sleeping through the night, going to bed around midnight and sleeping until 6:30, when Pa gets up to go to work. However, Ma, being the night hawk that she is, still has difficulties going to bed when her son does...as you can tell by her late night posts on the blog!

After his clinic visit today, his oxygen has been decreased! Yippee!!! He is now down to 1/16 L/min.

His new weight is 10.5lbs!!! What a turkey! And he continues on his diet of (shameless plug)...When you wanna be sure, NeoSure! Yum. Yum.

Everything is progressing as expected and their next visit will be the pediatrician!

Love,
Auntie

Now they have gone too far

I gave up spinach. I gave up carrot juice. I gave up lunch meat. I refuse to eat anything that might poison me. Because I have too many things to live for...

But now they are screwing with the chocolate supplies of the world.

Salmonella be damned! This is just too much.

I'm switching to Cool Whip.

A couple of days off

I'm BACK!

Took a couple days of R and R before Pa returned to work. Auntie and I trekked out to IKEA and then waltzed around Cambridge. Has anyone glanced at the new IKEA book? Ha ha. That dog photo is a riot. Ma and Sha spent some time together on Sunday while Pa was out racing and doing all kinds of manly things that I really don't understand.

Speaking of things I don't understand, sometimes I realize that I am the "learner" of the relationship. I think Pa just keeps me around so he has someone to teach...he has been in the basement working on something that I really don't understand, with wiring schmatics that look a lot like lines with numbers and such. Anyhoo...Auntie and Ma ran around Cambridge to find a "diode" (whatever that is!) and voila! Pa has a new fancy thing-a-ma bobber that he is really excited about. All I know is that it is way-way-way beyond me. I think he should harness this skill and get a career making thing-a-ma-widgets, we could become gypsies and peddle them. I really think that he must get tired of having to "dumb down" all of his conversations! I am soooo not handy. It is a good thing I am pretty. :-)

Pa brought Ma a STAR mag tonight on his way home from work. xoxo. It really doesn't take much.

Sha had a fun day of visiting with his Great grandparents today. Pa returned to work. Waaa. A Cow called to be sure that I was ok. That was so sweet. I love her.

I need to get my schizisal in gear, because I have become a couch lounging, stretch pant wearing, ice cream eating, sloth. Sooo, I commit to getting my lazy arse out of bed at 7:00am, just like the old days, and getting it in gear. The good thing about Glencoe, is there really is no place to shop. (which would make Lak the bank man really, really happy). But there are a ton of things that I could do around this place. So 7:00am it is. Even if it means a nap later...tee hee.

Not that insightful of a post, but hey, it's something. More photos to come.
