Have you ever...

picked the lint out of someone else's toes? Just realized, that is probably supposed to be my job. I can only assume that Sha isn't caring for his little piggies and the space between them. Toe lint....ewwwww. I wonder how long that has been in there? Does that make me a bad mother?

No photos today! Too much snow. Rescheduled for Tuesday. Sha is trying to fake sleeping because he knows it is time for his medicine. Nice try, small fry.

Why can't there be a Girl Guide badge

for applying Tegaderm? This would be a useful life skill. Down with birdhouses and knitting and skating...

Sha has his Christmas photo tomorrow and I can't exactly take him looking like the littlest Hobo! So Sha and Ma wrestle on the couch with the Tegaderm. Sha is getting smarter by the day (or night as the case may be) and spends the entire time, after midnight, picking at his tape on his nasal prongs. Tegaderm...for those of you who have never had the pleasure...happens to be the stickest substance on earth. It clings to itself and will not come apart, resulting in another one having to be cut and reapplied. Sha is very quick and is very aware that he does not like having his prongs taped. I think it is the only time I have witnessed him trying to get away from me!

His Tegaderm, this morning was all curled around the edges, which means, during the quiet of night, Sha has picked at it and then it has picked up dirt and lint and some black stuff....really not the things Christmas photos are made of.

Sha is now ready to go for tomorrow am...if we could only agree on an outfit.

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple.

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Must See!!

The Pursuit of Happiness. Will Smith. I LOVE a feel good movie. xoxo

To the Health Unit we go....

Sha and Ma had a wonderful outing to the Health Unit today. It was so refreshing to be with a some Moms just showing off the "regular" things that babies do. Sha was weighed and came in at 11lbs, 7oz! Once a turkey, always a turkey. We sang a few songs and shared a few stories. One of the Moms even recognized us from this blog (small world!).

Sha is smiling more and Ma is busy trying not to think about the fact that there will not be anymore babies...waaa. (who knew this part would be so darn hard?!) Hard to believe that every first, is also a last. Darn it. First smile...last time to see a first smile... I suppose it would have been easier to accept if the situation had been different. And so, we make the most of every little detail!

Priorities, priorities. Sometimes it is hard to put them all in order, but it is getting easier as time passes.

Pa is very busy at work and looks forward to each homecoming to swoop in and pick up his little boy. Pa and Sha spent the weekend watching football while Ma and Auntie set up Auntie's Christmas tree!

Sha continues to use oxygen and we will be having a visit from our friend the RT this week to discuss weaning (perhaps).

That's all our news!
