Panic and Comedy

Someone should train me. How should one react in a situation of emergency? Although, I tend to be involved (over and over and over) again, I don't have the swift reflexes that it takes to respond. I think disbelief takes over my system. It isn't shock, but more of a nawwwww....this can't be happening. But these things happen. Welcome to my "normal".

It takes my brain sometime to process things. I actually had repressed this happened...and looking back, you just think, WHAT?!?

On our Florida vacation, Auntie and Ma went for a night time walk. After a short ride on the trolley we strolled out in the beautiful evening air. We window shopped and made our way to the Olive Garden. Yum! Earlier in the day we had discussed how many British people seem to be on holidays in Orlando.

Unfortunately the resturant was on the other side of the street, which meant a precarious crossing considering it was a 4 lane road with a grass median in the middle. We hadn't come across a light in a while but Auntie spotted a cross walk to use. There were NO LIGHTS just the white stripes painted on the ground.

Patiently we stood by the sign and waited for a break in the traffic. This area was high volume traffic and there really should have been lights. A British couple, about our age, met us at the sign.

The woman leaned to Auntie and said "so we just cross here, do we?"
And Auntie said "Yeah".

Then the most peculiar thing happened. The couple held hands and proceeded to step out infront of traffic!!! Tires screeched and horns honked. The couple seemed unfazed and continued to walk, in the dark, through the mess of cars. They made it safely to the median. One would assume, after almost losing your life to being hit by multiple cars, you would stop and reassess your crossing. But no! They continue to cross another two lanes of traffic in the exact same manner.

Auntie and I were stunned. We stood there holding our breath. We should have said something. But we couldn't. We were frozen in time watching in disbelief.

The couple was unharmed and no cars were wrecked. But it was close. Too close for comfort.

When Auntie said, "Yeah" this is where you cross the road, she only assumed that they would wait for a break in traffic.

After they had left and we had stood there in silence for a while, I said "I wonder what they would have done if you had asked them to jump off of a bridge?"

Lemmings.

Xander news

Things you do:

- feed yourself your bottle! You love the new handles on your Avent bottles and are determined to feed yourself. You have a feeding down to about 5 minutes straight up. (Remember when 2oz took about 40 mins?)

- rolling over. Back to front and front to back. Although most times your arm gets stuck on the way from back to front and it makes you crazy angry!

- 2 teeth! No dentures for you. Your bottom teeth are slowly poking through.

Things you hate:

- baby cereal. Gag fest. Forget it. You hate it. Doesn't matter about the flavour or type or mixing or temperature. I've Googled this one to death. I know all the tricks and the bottom line is: it's gross and you know it. Maybe you have been Googling it too?

Things we are waiting on:

- sitting up. Any time now buddy....
