Day 10 of Life - June 28th

Surprise, Sha actually had a head ultrasound yesterday! Unofficially, his little brain continues to look good! Also, cardiology has been brought in to look at his PDA. Good news, its closed!

He seems to be tolerating his feeds and has increased to 1 cc every 4 hours. Such a good boy! His blood pressure is good, but his oxygen requirements are up slightly. He seems a little agitated today, but is otherwise going strong! Keep it up, Little One!

When Ma was visiting last night, the little guy opened his eyes and looked at her! Then he repeated the process for Pa. He already knows who to suck up to! Ma also got to change his diaper last night, which was the first time that she has seen him nakid!!! (She was knocked out when he was born!)

Ma is having problems getting her sick leave started. She got a note from her OB/Gyn, but her work is giving her a hard time, saying that she must start her maternity leave now. That battle continues, but I hope it will work out in Ma's favour.

I had an amazing time yesterday visiting with Ma and Sha. I can't put into words how wonderful Sha looks! I kept telling Ma that he is beautiful and he looks great.

I'm clearly not a doctor but I feel...more at ease now that I have seen Sha.

Ma and Pa make good babies!!!

Oh, I saw Sha open his eyes too!!

    Day 10! Wonderful!
We have been following Ma, Pa and Sha's progress avidly. This blog is a great idea and he will love to read it in years to come. We have had two premature babies in our family so we remember the endless waiting and the stress for the whole family and friends. But each day is such a reward and I know all the prayers will be giving you strength.
Our one baby is now 21 and the mother of a beautiful baby girl. Our other baby was in the very same ICU Sha is in and he just finished grade 6. So the future is yours Sha! Keep fighting little one!

Yes, Sha just keeps winning the hearts of eveyone who see him. I too had the pleasure of seeing him with his eyes open yesterday. Spoiling privileges can't come soon enough! Pa, Ma, keep up the good work, this little miracle man has support and prayers from poeple he will never know! He is a treasure!

Great news about Sha. Ma, I'm glad you are finally well enough to be home. Pa must be glad too. It must have been an amazing feeling to have little Sha open his eyes and peek at you. There are only so many moments like that in our lives. Try to relax in between trips to the hospital. There is lots of time for catching up with everyone later. Hugs.

    Ma,

I showed Ayla some of the photos of her new cousin and she things he is so cute! She can't wait to play with him someday. She things playing catch would be fun! All in good time... :)

Take care Ma, Pa and Sha. We look forward to visiting your neck of the woods one of these days, but in the meantime this blog is just great.

    Love,

    Hi Sha et al,

Just wanted to welcome you to the clan, little one. We knew from the first moment we saw your photo, that you belonged in this family; you are just so darned cute! It is great to be able to read all about your journey, and to see what a brave and strong little boy you are. Keep on growing as you're doing and it won't be long until Mommy and Daddy will find out what it's like to keep up with the antics of an adventurous little fellow. We can't wait to have a chance to hold you, but until the time comes we will hold you in our hearts, and keep you in our prayers. You go guy! And, congratulations Mom and Dad.
Love and Best Wishes from the Great Couple at Thistledown Farm.
